Iran is ready to help Saudi Arabia resolve the conflict with the Shiite Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi said.

“We have always said that the problem of Yemen will be resolved through negotiations. We are confident that countries such as Iran, as well as other countries in the region, can provide support in this. We have declared our readiness to play a constructive role, and our friends in Saudi Arabia are aware of this readiness,” Araqchi was quoted as saying by Iran newspaper.

Sanaa International Airport in Yemen was hit by airstrikes before a plane from Iran landed on July 13. The Shiite Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) blamed Saudi Arabia for the strikes, announcing the cessation of the ceasefire. Both sides have refrained from attacking each other’s territory since October 2022.

Saudi Arabia imposed a blockade on northern Yemen after the Houthis came to power in Sanaa in 2014 and controls the country’s airspace.
