Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed confidence that US customs duties on Serbian products in the amount of 35% will be lifted on Saturday.

“We had duties on steel, aluminum, passenger cars, and copper… People should know that this has caused us problems, especially for some foreign companies (in Serbia), but also for some domestic ones. The good news is that tonight, according to our time, duties for Serbia will become zero,” the Serbian leader said at a briefing on Friday.

He clarified that the US duties may then rise to 10-12%, but for now they will be zero.

Earlier, Vucic said that the new US duties primarily concern Serbian defense companies Yugoimport, Prvi Partizan and manufacturers of tires for buses and trucks – Japanese investors Toyo Tire and Chinese Linglong in Serbia.

US customs duties of 35% on products from Serbia came into force in August 2025, according to the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the products of 750 companies fell under the new US duties, and the United States ranked 19th in the structure of Serbian exports at that time.

According to the Republican Statistics Department, in 2024, Serbian exports to the United States totaled $670.1 million, while imports from the United States totaled $739.4 million. This is only 2.1% of Serbia’s total exports and 1.8% of imports in 2024.
