Alice Weidel, co-chair of the opposition right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, declared her readiness to lead the process of political transformation in Germany amid the ongoing decline in the ratings of the ruling parties.
⠀
On Tuesday, YouGov published the results of a poll among German citizens, according to which support for the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) bloc, which is part of Germany’s current ruling coalition, has dropped to 20%, approaching a five-year low.
⠀
“The CDU/CSU’s rating has dropped to 20%, and our AfD party is now ahead of its rivals by nine percentage points from 29%. Germany wants political change – we are ready,” Weidel wrote on her account on the social network X, commenting on the results of a recent opinion poll.

Bundestag deputy from the AFD Markus Fronmaier did not rule out holding early federal elections in Germany next year against the background of the declining popularity of the current ruling coalition led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
