Donald Trump welcomed King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to the White House

Donald Trump and his wife Melania welcomed King and Queen of Jordan to the White House on Tuesday. Queen Rania Al-Abdullah was hugging fondly by the first lady, later Melania even shared a video of her meeting with Queen Rania.

The Jordanian-American relations have seen a major improvement in the past years largely due to the unique relations of King Abdullah with all sectors of the American government. The King’s relations with Congress have reflected in a bipartisan support that witnessed an increase in aid to Jordan more than what was requested by the White House.

Melania Trump and Queen Rania seemed to be getting on well during yesterday’s White House visit. In a White House video shared on her Twitter, Melania can be seen getting on well with Queen of Jordan who is also 47 years old. The two women appear deep in conversation together as they walk through the White House grounds.

The Jordanian-US relations should be strengthen. Although Jordan is a relatively small country, its strategic importance is not to be minimised on both regional and international levels, especially in the fight against extremism and in the need for moderate open societies in a region that has suffered from radical, religiously imposed systems that have set the region backwards.
