Clinton urges for more measures in the war against ISIS

The Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton said on Sunday that the U.S is not achieving something new in the war against ISIS. The former Secretary of State rushes the Congress to grant some measures for Barack Obama to fight against terrorism, says The Washington Post.

Hillary Clinton called on Congress to update the use-of-force authorization passed after 9/11, so Barack Obama could have more options when it comes to the war against ISIS.

The President will deliver a prime-time address from the Oval Office on Sunday night and Clinton expects strong words coming from Obama, claims the same source.

The Government’s main purpose is keeping citizens safe

The White House press secretary Josh Earnest released a statement where he specified that Obama will speak about “the steps our government is taking to fulfill his highest priority: keeping the American people safe.”

“I think …that’s what we’ll hear from the president, an intensification of the existing strategy. And I think there’s some additional steps we have to take.”, said Hillary Clinton on ABC’s “This Week.”

Republicans criticized Obama’s take on ISIS

But the Democrat front-runner wasn’t the only presidential candidate that was on air on Sunday. Republicans Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Marco Rubio appeared on different talk shows claiming that Obama isn’t doing quite enough to ensure protection for the people and the real fact is that he has no strategy in the war against ISIS.

“We’re not winning, but it’s too soon to say that we are doing everything we need to do. And I’ve outlined very clearly we have to fight them in the air, we have to fight them on ground, and we have to fight on the Internet. And we have to do everything we can with our friends and partners around the world to protect ourselves.”, said Clinton, quoted by The Washington Post, after the Republicans demanted some other military ground strategy in addition to airstrikes.

Jeb Bush, at the same TV show with Clinton, but later on, said that the former Secretary of State’s statement was just a words game. “They are at war with us and we should have a strategy not just to restrain but to destroy them. We have to get the lawyers off the war-fighters’ backs.”

The shootings in San Bernardino are also considered a terrorist act

The two, Clinton and Bush, also spoke about the recent gun-control legislation offered by Democrats, rejected by the Senat. after the San Bernandino shooting.

“What happened in San Bernardino was a terrorist act. Nobody is arguing with that. The law enforcement, FBI have come to that conclusion. And let’s not forget, though, a week before we had an American assault on Planned Parenthood and some weeks before that we had an assault at a community college,” Clinton said, while Bush claimed that the incident had nothing to do with terrorism and the gun control law proposed by Democrats has nothing to do with the war against ISIS, a more pressing matter, according to The Washington Post.
