WikiLeaks opened to the public 294,546 emails and attachments to them from 762 mailboxes. The senders of released emails are allegedly officials from the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which is the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party.
Wikileaks strikes again: on July 19th, thousands of emails of AKP were published. The oldest of correspondence dated 2010 year, the most recent sent on July 6, 2016 — a week prior to an attempt of the coup. According to the Wikileaks position, the organisation decided to publish 294,546 emails from 762 mailboxes as a response to Erdogan’s post-coup purges.
On the official site of Wikileaks you ca find a comment to the released AKP’s emails:
“It should be noted that emails associated with the domain are mostly used for dealing with the world, as opposed to the most sensitive internal matters.”
The representatives of Wikileaks assuring that they have verified the published data and the source. This unexpected publication of AKP correspondence is a response to the politic of censorship which government has intensified after the Friday’s attempt coup, says Wikileaks site.
