Draghi said he would not stop diplomatic contacts with Russia

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that the expulsion of Italian diplomats from Russia should not mean a rupture of diplomatic channels with Russia.

“This absolutely does not mean the need to break diplomatic channels. This is a hostile gesture in response to our expulsion, hostile towards Europe, because, if I understand correctly, diplomats from France and Spain were expelled,” he said after talks with Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin .

“The main reasoning is that this should absolutely not lead to a rupture of diplomatic channels, because through them, if possible, the direction to peace will go,” Draghi said.

Earlier it became known that the Russian side would send 24 Italian diplomats as a response.
