Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed hope that the new authorities would not destroy the achievements of the previous government accumulated over 16 years.
⠀
“As of today, Hungary is led by a liberal government. The outgoing national government has prepared an inventory,” Orban said in a video message posted on Facebook.
⠀
According to him, economic growth in Hungary is now the second largest in the European Union, employment has increased by one million people compared to 2010.
⠀
Orban also listed measures on tax benefits for families with children, tax exemption for mothers with many children and young people under 25, preferential loans for first homes, the introduction of the 13th and 14th pensions, a 4.5-fold increase in the minimum wage, higher salaries for teachers and doctors.
⠀
Over the past 16 years, the outgoing government has doubled state reserves, increased gold reserves from three to 100 tons, brought foreign exchange reserves to a record high, and also prevented illegal migrants from entering the country.
⠀
“The liberal government starts from this point. If only they don’t destroy it,” Orban summed up.

Peter Magyar was confirmed as Prime Minister of Hungary on May 9. The new Cabinet took the oath of office on May 12.
