Vladimir Putin is the very interesting topic to the screenplays, but as new red dawn rises in Hollywood, the Russian leader was cut out of two major films.
Hollywood Russia-themed thrillers like ‘Red Sparrow’ originally contained the scenes with Vladimir Putin but later these were cut out. Just in case. The drama where Jennifer Lawrence plays a Russian spy will be released avoiding Mr Putin. Another new red dawn rises in Hollywood!
According to Fox’s bosses, Hollywood isn’t ready to give screen time to Vladimir Putin, his character has been excised from two upcoming studio projects including Red Sparrow. Hollywood insiders explain such a move as the “creative choices,” but by avoiding Putin, Fox also is steering clear of any Russian hackers who might protest. See Red Sparrow trailer below.
Hollywood’s nervousness over showing Putin
The French director Luc Besson has finished his drama Kursk, and Putin’s character also disappeared from it. Obviously, EuropaCorp’s is ready to release the true story of a Russian submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in 2000 but not touching the Russian president. The original version of Kursk’s screenplay included scenes with Mr Putin.
What’s ironic, however, is that Hollywood’s nervousness over showing Putin on film seems at odds with its current Russian obsession, with studios searching high and low for scripts that can best capture the current political climate in all its fraught intrigue.
