King Salman and Mahmoud Abbas had a phone conversation on Saturday, the royal press office said. The Palestinian President expressed his best wishes to the Saudi Kingdom and its people to overcome the emerging crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, received on Saturday a phone call from Mr Abbas who expressed his gratitude for generous and timely support of Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian health system.
For his part, King Salman wished that Palestinians and the whole world be protected from the repercussions of the pandemic.
This week, during the tenth virtual meeting of an ad hoc Saudi committee, a new contract was signed with specialized companies to provide medical support to Palestine to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The contract was signed on Wednesday to provide Palestine with essential medical devices and supplies to combat the spread of the novel pathogen and mitigate its impact on their peoples.
The virtual meeting, chaired by the top health Saudi official, discussed the ways to provide necessary medical assistance to affected nations of the Middle East, especially, Palestine and Yemen. This comes in line with Saudi monarch’s directives to stand by these countries in cooperation with the UN, its bodies and organizations.
“The six signed contracts come in the framework of the implementation of the royal orders. They include the provision of a number of essential preventive medical devices and supplies that are used in such crises to support the sisterly Yemen and Palestine in the face of the coronavirus,” Al-Rabeeah said.
The official also added that King Salman’s directives embody the Saudi noble humanitarian role and reflect its keenness to harness its capabilities and resources in the service of humanitarian causes.
