Garth Brooks makes fan’s concert dreams a reality

Garth Brooks makes fan’s concert dreams a reality

Virginia college student Danielle El-Jor missed out on her chance at fame in 2014 when she had to pull out of an audition for U.S. talent show The Voice after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but she won the chance to meet Garth and his wife Trisha Yearwood at a local radio station on Saturday (12Nov16), and shared her story with the singing superstars.

“We went in and we met Garth and Trisha and sat down with him and it was like talking to my neighbours, like parents, so casual,” Danielle, who is now in remission, gushed to WTVR.com. “They were the nicest, sweetest people.”

“I told them my dream was to become a singer; I want to be on The Voice, and he said, ‘What are you doing tomorrow at noon?'” she recalled. “He said, ‘How’d you like to come to my soundcheck?’ and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I would love to come to your soundcheck.'”

Danielle blew Brooks away with her talent during the rehearsal, so he offered her the chance to return and perform at his Sunday show at the Richmond Coliseum.

“I started singing, the band started playing, and it just all came very natural,” she continued. “He was like, ‘Let’s do that song tonight!’ I was like, ‘Yes, of course!'”

They ended up collaborating on a cover of Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis’ I Told You So…, and Danielle is still pinching herself after her first big concert experience.

“It was like I was on stage with my best friend; he was amazing,” she added.
