The UN hopes that the Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the DRC will be contained

The UN hopes that the outbreak of Ebola in Uganda and the DRC will be contained,  Farhan Haq, Deputy Representative of the Secretary General of the World Organization, said.

Earlier, the World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda an extraordinary public health situation of international importance.

“We hope that it will be possible to contain this,” Haq said during a press briefing, answering a question about whether there is a risk of the virus spreading to neighboring countries.

Commenting on the UN’s willingness to counter the virus in other African countries, Hack replied: “at this stage, we have no reason to believe that this strain can spread that far.”
