Lactalis, a French dairy concern, faced difficulties recent week, the tainted baby milk scandal affecting 30 countries where the French-made baby milk sells. Millions of packages of baby milk were recalled due to salmonella scandal.
The French dairy giant Lactalis is a huge international company whose baby milk products have caused disease of 26 infants in early December. French health authorities recommended recalling several million baby milk products earlier this month.
On Thursday, the company expanded the recall to all products made in its factory in Craon, western France, since February “as a precautionary measure”. Lactalis released the official statement, in which dairy giant apologised to customers and said the outbreak began after renovation work earlier this year at the Craon site.
According to the French health authorities, 26 infants fell ill in early December linked to Lactalis products contaminated with salmonella bacteria. The symptoms of salmonella infection include abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and fever. Despite the concerns, most people recover without treatment.
The recalls this month affect countries including the UK, Greece, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Sudan, Peru and Colombia.
