Ermak said he would appeal the court’s decision to arrest him

The former head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, Andrei Ermak, said in court that his defense would appeal the court’s decision that sent him into custody.

The live broadcast is conducted from the courtroom.

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) earlier on Thursday announced the verdict against Ermak, accused of money laundering during the construction of luxury housing near Kiev. He is being held in custody with the possibility of posting a $3.1 million bail.

“I deny any charges, I will continue to fight, but the court has made such a decision, I remain in Ukraine. I think that a group of lawyers will appeal,” Ermak said in the courtroom. The broadcast is conducted by the Ukrainian TV channel “Public”.

On Monday, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP)Ukraine reported that it had charged Ermak with money laundering during the construction of luxury housing near Kiev. The next day, WAX began choosing a preventive measure for Ermak. At the same time, the head of SAP, Alexander Klimenko, informed that the agency would ask to be taken into custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 4.1 million dollars.
